Card Slot Drop
Drop and Learn with Card Slot Fun! Elevate your toddler's playtime with this easy activity.
Supplies & Setup
Empty oatmeal container or cardboard box
Deck of playing cards or index cards
Scissors
Instructions
On the top of the container or box, use scissors to cut a rectangular slot. The slot should be wide enough for a card to fit through.
Model the activity by picking up an index card and dropping it through the slot. Let your child see the card disappear into the container.
As your child drops each card, you can count them together or name the colors of the cards. This introduces early math and color recognition concepts.
Fun Tip!
Have your little one decorate the container and index cards (if using them) with markers, stickers, or crayons.
What will they learn?
Fine Motor Skills: Dropping the cards into slots requires precise hand movements, helping toddlers develop control and coordination in their fingers and hands.
Spatial Awareness: Recognizing the position and orientation of the slots in relation to the cards fosters spatial awareness and understanding of spatial relationships.
Patience and Persistence: Engaging in the activity encourages toddlers to practice patience and persistence as they experiment with different ways to drop the cards into the slots.
